The lever (13) for controlling the angular orientation of the strut carries a ball seal (8) coupled to the steering rod (9). It is articulated at (14) on the body of the damper (4) about a pin (15), and its other end which carries a seal (16) is driven by a bar (17) articulated about a pin (18) in a plate (19). This plate pivots about the axis of the strut by virtue of the bearing (20) which connects it to the structure (6). This device makes it possible to mount a suspension of the Macpherson type in an upper position of the steering-control mechanism without any obligation to lengthen the connecting rods. <IMAGE>
