PURPOSE:To provide a graphitic composite material having high strength and excellent impermeability to liquids, by bonding an expanded graphite sheet to a nonwoven fabric of inorganic or organic fiber, combined cloth or wire net as a lamellar reinforcing material with a resin and integrating. CONSTITUTION:For example, nonwoven fabric of glass is impregnated or coated with an epoxy resin, which is dried and then made into a semicured state. An expanded graphite sheet is placed on one side of the nonwoven fabric and molded under pressure by heating to give a composite material. The expanded graphite sheet is bonded to the reinforcing material with the resin and integrated to develop high strength. The resin used for bonding not only bonds the expanded graphite sheet to the reinforcing material, but also is permeated into the interior of the expanded graphite sheet in the process of formation of the composite material and improves mechanical strength and impermeability to liquid of the expanded graphite sheet. |
