In an automatic bread baking machine, a temperature detecting circuit detects the change of the temperature during the baking of the bread, and comprises a microprocessor (11) which outputs a high signal in order from its output terminals (PO1-PO7) according to the temperature programming. Resistors R10-R16 are connected to said output terminals and have a predetermined value different from each other. A temperature sensing thermistor TH11 is connected in common to the resistors and a voltage corresponding to the detected temperature of the thermistor is fed to a comparator for comparing with a reference signal. The comparator output is fed to the microprocesser (11). The arrangement is such as to allow a self diagnostic function of the thermistor and to obviate the necessity of including an A/D convertor.
