PURPOSE: To prevent bags or articles therein from being damaged by a method wherein a heat sealing assembly is provided with a clamping bar capable of moving so that the heat seal assembly may be approached or remote therefrom and the article-filled bags are clamped between the bar and a heat sealing unit. CONSTITUTION: After air is inflated in a bag B, an actuator is driven to extend a rod 130 and a clamping bar 110 is moved to the side of a heat sealing unit 114. The clamping force to be applied to a bag B held between the clamping bar 110 and heat sealing unit 114 is increased immediately before the bag B is clamped to be coupled with the heat sealing unit 114 as first and second toggle rings 120 and 122 arrive at the arranging position. While the air inflated bag B is held between the clamping bar 110 and heat sealing unit 114 and when the bag B is pressurized by an actuator 158 to extend a rod 158a, a perforation breaking mechanism 102 is rotated counter clockwise around a main axis 152 to drive a blade-like member 50 via the web path, and the web is cut along a line of weakness formed by perforations on the web.
