PURPOSE:To ensure an effective work area for an unmanned carrier by varying the obstacle detecting range of an infrared ray sensor for each work station. CONSTITUTION:An unmanned carrier 1 contains a decelerating point detecting device 3 which detects a decelerating point set on the traveling route of the carrier 1 and an obstacle detecting range memory part 4 which stores the detecting range data on obstacles set previously. An obstacle detecting range deciding part 5 decides an obstacle detecting range for each station stored in the part 4. Then an infrared ray sensor detecting range switch means 6 switches the obstacle detecting range of an infrared ray sensor 7 of a detection means. In case the part 5 decides the need for switching the detecting range of the sensor 7, this range is switched. When an obstacle is detected within a due range, the carrier 1 is urgently stopped by a driving control part 8. While the drive of the carrier 1 is continued when the non-switch of the detecting range is decided. |
