摘要 PURPOSE:To enable automatic detection of a distance between a chaser and a target and an azimuth by providing a TV camera and an image processing circuit. CONSTITUTION:An image 3 of a target picked up by a TV camera 1 is passed through a contour processing element 4 so that the contour 5 of the target by emphasized. Next, a graphic center processing element 6 computes a graphic center 7 of the target from the contour 5 of the target, and azimuths 9 of a chaser and the target are detected from the graphic center 7 by an azimuth processing element 8. A distance processing element 10 computes a distance between the graphic center 7 and the contour 5. Since this distance is proportional to a distance from the chaser to the target and the size of the target is known beforehand, the processing element 10 calculates a distance 11 to the target from data on the relation between the graphic center 7 and the contour 5 of the target on the basis of this proportional relationship. Accordingly, detection with high precision can be attained without depending on the sensor of vision of a pilot and simultaneously mental fatigue of the pilot can be lessened.
