<p>PURPOSE:To ensure pitching resistance and flat and smooth painting, without increasing the number of the painting operations, by applying to a part of outer sheet panel sprayed with one-liquid urethane coating material an intermediate coating material having a smaller sagging characteristics than that applied to the other parts thereof. CONSTITUTION:The outer sheet panel 1 of a vehicle, after the formation of an anti-pitching coating film 5 following the application of one-liquid urethane coating material to the underside of side sill, is carried to an intermediate coating line, where the intermediate coating material of a normal composition is sprayed by rotatable paint sprayers 3 and 4 from a circulation passageway 13 to a part 1 of the outer sheet panel above the previously formed anti-pitching coating film 5 for paint application thereto and, at the same time, the coating material small in sagging characteristics is sprayed by a rotatable paint sprayer 2 from a circulation passageway 12 toward above the anti-pitching coating film 5 for wet-on-wet paint application thereto. This paint application method permits the required anti-pitching resistance and flat and smooth painting to be attained, without increasing the number of coating operations.</p> |
