The device serves for the sealed connection of two cast-iron pipes with smooth-cylindrical ends (1). It comprises a sealing sleeve (2, 3) and an annular bracing band (4) which encloses said sleeve and has a radially inwardly projecting, annular web (5) which juts out from the inner side of the sealing sleeve and one planar outer surface of which serves as a stop for the inserted pipe end. On the inner side of the sealing sleeve there are further provided, spaced apart from one another, annular sealing lips (6, 7, 8) which, after insertion of the pipe ends (1) into the sealing sleeve/bracing band unit, are held in fixed abutment on the pipe outer surface (1) under the radial pressure of the annular bracing band (4). A device which is particularly simple in terms of structure and can be easily handled comprises a sealing sleeve which is formed in two parts and in the case of which each sealing-sleeve part (2, 3) can be axially displaced with respect to the annular bracing band (4) via an annular carry-along web (5), which projects inwards at the front end in each case, after contact with the pipe end. Furthermore, each sealing-sleeve part (2, 3) has at least one sealing lip (6, 7, 8), which juts out radially inwardly, and at least one annular shoulder (9, 10) which juts out outwardly and to which there is assigned, on the inner side of the annular bracing band (4), a sloping portion (11, 12) which is created towards the centre of the band by a reduction in diameter and serves to prestress the sealing lip (6, 7, 8).
