In order to provide a bead core for foldable bicycle tyres, consisting of plastic fibres which are wound to form a ring and are steeped with binding agent, which bead core corresponds to the highest requirements with respect to its dimensional stability and which, in addition, even after installation in a corresponding tyre ensures a better seat of the tyre on the rim even in the case of considerable overpressure, it is proposed that the core consist of a plurality of fibres which are wound in a plurality of layers one on top of the other and next to one another, in each case one fibre being wound to form a core element (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4) with a plurality of turns (e.g. 5-8) which are wound one on top of the other, a plurality of such core elements (e.g. 1-4) being arranged one next to the other and the core elements which are arranged one next to the other being wound in each case with reversed lay in a Z-S configuration. <IMAGE>
