In a known colour-printing device, a number of recording heads are arranged around a printing roller; according to the number of recording heads, a number of different-coloured ink ribbons are provided, in each case stored on two winding spools. To achieve an especially compact and constructively simple structure of the colour-printing device, it is envisaged that the ink ribbon sections are part sections of a single ink ribbon (13), which is guided, around at least one deflection point (21 or 22), between the respectively directly adjacent recording heads (4, 5 or 5, 6) in each case in a loop with a loop length corresponding to the length of the recording medium (2) plus the arc length (a) of the printing roller surface between the adjacent recording heads (4, 5 or 5, 6). <IMAGE>
