PURPOSE:To obtain the rewritable medium of high performance which satisfies long-term stability (stability in an amorphous state at room temp.) and high- speed erasing property by using an Sb-Te alloy film and specifying the compsn. range thereof. CONSTITUTION:The alloy film consisting of the compsn. which is expressed by the formula (Sb1-xTex) and in which (x) is 0.1<=x<=0.3 is used as the recording layer. A dielectric layer is deposited as a protective film on the front and/or rear surface of the recording layer. Further, the optical recording medium is constituted by providing >=2 layers of such thin alloy films and forming these plural thin alloy films between the respective dielectric layers; in addition, the respective film thicknesses of the alloy layers are confined to <=30nm. The rewriting type optical recording medium which allows the easy high-speed erasing, has the high stability of the recording state and allows many times of writing, reproducing and erasing is obtd. in this way. |
