Hydraulic valves working as a function of pressure and having a piston (10) which forms an adjustable limit of a flow passage and has a control surface to which pressure prevailing in the flow passage can be admitted exhibit a deviation from the predetermined, pressure-dependent working behaviour during increasing choking of the flow. This is disadvantageous during flow control, because the controlled flow decreases during increasing inlet pressure. The novel hydraulic valve is intended to work without this deviation. In order to work purely as a function of pressure, a baffle shield (S) fixed relative to the piston (10) as regards the chamber is provided in the hydraulic valve. The baffle shield (S) has at least one baffle surface (25) which is arranged between the control surface (20) and a connection near the control surface in such a way as to face the connection. The baffle surface (25) keeps forces resulting from the flow dynamics away from the control surface of the piston. The hydraulic valve is suitable in particular for flow control (feed control) in the speed control of consumers. <IMAGE>
