PURPOSE:To electrostatically classify nonmagnetic toners and to obtain an adequate electrostatic discharge quantity distribution by adopting the pressurized contact of a developer by a layer-forming member for a means of depositing the developer on the surface of a developer carrier. CONSTITUTION:The toners housed in a toner container 10 are agitated over the entire part in the container by agitating vanes 16 and are rubbed to the surface of the toner carrier 15 by a transport roller 14. Further, the toner is brought into pressurized contact with the carrier by a toner layer-forming blade 13 to generate triboelectrostatic charge with the toner layer-forming blade 13 and to simultaneously form the toner layer of a specified layer thickness on the toner carrier 12. The toners are electrostatically screened by the electric field impressed on an electrode 19 and are transferred onto a toner receivering body 11, from which the toners are scraped by a cleaning blade 17. The toners are then housed in a recovering container 18. The pressing by the toner layer- forming means is adopted for the means of depositing the toners on the surface of the toner carrier in such a manner and, therefore, this method is applicable even to the electrostatic classification of the nonmagnetic toners and the toner having the sharp electrostatic charge quantity distribution is obtd. |
