PURPOSE:To avoid the wave-form distortion dur to non-linearity around threshold value current of a laser diode by a method wherein a bias current control circuit is provided to control DC bias current of a laser diode corresponding to the fluctuation of DC component of input modulation signals. CONSTITUTION:The base band image signals inputted into a modulation signal input terminal 9 are led into a clamp circuit 17 to DC-fix pedestal level while the signals input into an inverted amplifier 25 are outputted as negative modulation signals. The signals inputted into integrating circuit 18 of a bias current control circuit 16 detection-fix the negative peak value in a peak hold circuit 20 through another inverted amplifier 19 while differentiating themselves from the reference voltage by a differential amplifier 21 to control amplitude by a limiter circuit 22. The signal voltage increasing bias current flowing into a laser diode 1 in case APL of the terminal 9 input signals is small is input into the base of a transistor 5 so that no signals may be transmitted to the non-linear part around threshold value current of the laser diode 1 preventing the deterioration of differential gain and phase at APL<=30% from happening. |
