<p>High frequency heat treatment of lengths of metal stock is carried out by feeding the lengths (1) in their lengthwise direction, preferably using a pushing rod (4) which is insensible to the high frequency, to pass through a high frequency heating furnace (2) and then into a cooling chamber (5) wherein the heated lengths are transported by a plurality of chain conveyors, laterally (i.e. in the direction perpendicular to their lengthwise direction) to provide adequate cooling.
