A method for propagating a nursery plant by starting the cultivation of a tissue piece or a cultured cell of a plant on a medium prepared by impregnating a water-insoluble and water-absorbent support with a liquid culture medium in a culture tank and carrying out the subsequent cultivation consistently in the same culture tank and on the same medium, where the tissue piece or the cultured cell of a plant is heterotrophically cultivated on a carbon source-containing medium before the regeneration of a shoot and the shoot in the processes of rooting and acclimatization is photo-autotrophically cultivated on a substantially carbon source-free medium brought by the consumption of the carbon source during the heterotrophical cultivation period before the regeneration of the shoot, by making the shoot photosynthesize under a required light exposure intensity and required carbon dioxide gassing condition; and a method for acclimatizing a cultured nursery plant by cultivating it while making it photosynthsize in a carbon source-free medium under a required light exposrue intensity and required carbon dioxide gassing conditions in a culture tank and, at the same time, gradually decreasing the moisture of the acclimatization medium and the humidity in the culture tank by gassing carbon dioxide into the culture tank during the acclimatizing cultivation period to thereby discharge the indide moisture outside.
