PURPOSE:To obtain the compact storing and reproducing device of large capacity by writing information with the recessing part or through hole of an atomic level, for which hyper-fine discharge working is executed to a storing medium, by a scanning probe and reproducing these information with the detection of a tonnel current. CONSTITUTION:A W-made probe 1, whose tip radius is 0.01mum, is finely driven by actuators 6, 7 and 8 in X, Y and Z directions and moved on the surface of a graphite-made storing medium 3 on a stage 4. When the information are written, it is executed with moving the probe 1 to a desired position by the X and Y actuators 6 and 7, adding a prescribed voltage by a signal generating device 15 for information writing and a power source 10 and generating the recessing part or through hole of the atomic level. When the information are read, the feedback voltage of a fine power source 8 for actuator in the Z direction, which is controlled so as to be the constant tonnel current by a tonnel current detecting device 12, is monitored by a reproducing device 14 and the presence and absence of the recessing part or through hole is detected. Thus, the storing and reproducing device of the large capacity is obtained. |
