PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of color ink by generating color separation signals of the YMCK system and a YMCK color separation deviation signal successively from original color separation signals of the RGB system, and then generating a color separation signal of degree (n). CONSTITUTION:Original color separation signals B0, G0, and R0 outputted from an original picture scanning part 1 are sent to a color calculating circuit 2 through a data selector 4 and converted into the 1st color separation signals Y1, M1, C1, and K1 of the YMC system, and they are outputted to a data line 6. An achromatic color separating circuit 7 replaces the desired ratio of a neutral color component with an ink signal and oututs the 2nd color separation signal to the data line. A coordinate converter 13 outputs the 1st RGB deviation signal of the difference between signals of lines 6 and 11 to the data line 15. This signal is converted by the circuit 2 into the 1st YMCK separation deviation signal, which is outputted to the line 6. An adding circuit 12 adds the deviation signal of the line 6 to the color separation signal of the line 11 to output the 3rd color separation signals Y3, M3, C3, and K3 to a data line 14.
