ORIFICE DIRECTOR PLATE FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC FUEL INJECTOR

A circular orifice director plate (80) is mounted in the lower part of the injector concentric with the reciprocating axis. A series of equally-spaced orifice passages (81) are located about a circle of predetermined diameter and concentric with the central axis of the plate (80). The passages are axially inclined and extend radially inward from an annular groove (82) formed in the upper, upstream surface (83) of the plate. The orifice plate is configured to produce a narrow, hollow conical fuel spray pattern having an inclined angle of between 10 and 20 deg. and with up to one half of the spray stream from each orifice intersecting or impinging against other streams at a point on the central injector axis.
