PURPOSE:To enhance the rate of lithium utilization by furnishing a boss at the inside of a negative electrode terminal plate by means of electrolysis, and thereby holding lithium in close contact with the negative electrode terminal plate even in the latest period of discharging. CONSTITUTION:In a flat plate type battery, which accommodates a power generating element between a positive electrode terminal plate 41 and a negative electrode terminal plate 45 and wherein the perimeters of these terminal plates 41, 45 are sealed with a sealing material 46, a boss 45a is formed on the inside surface of the negative electrode terminal plate 45 by means of electrolytic casting method. This provides good close contacting of lithium 44 with the negative electrode terminal plate 45, good electric characteristic in the latest period of discharging, and enhanced capacity. Even though the negative electrode terminal plate 45 is thin, no pinhole will be opened in the negative electrode terminal plate 45, which is likely in the case of net welding, by forming the abovementioned boss 45a while the terminal plate 45 is being formed by electrolysis. |
