PURPOSE:To set an original at a prescribed position easily regardless of the kind of the original by knowing the condition of the original on a reader side through a transparent plate. CONSTITUTION:On a platen 6, an index 7 for rough original positioning is provided. At the inner side of the original platen a hinge 11 is provided and consequently, the picture reader is rotatable to the position where original glass 8 abuts on an original surface and to the position where it moves away, so the platen is opened and closed freely with the reader 10. The reader 10 has a reading means 12 on the opposite of the original glass 8 to an original. A housing 10' is provided with a peek window 13 made of a transparent material to see the original 2 through the original glass 8. On the original glass 8, a size display 14 and the index 15 which are seen correctly on the opposite side to the original are provided. The picture reading means 12 stands by where it can not be seen through said peek window 13 except during at least picture reading operation. |
