1,081,126. Hydraulic rams. HUCK MANUFACTURING CO. June 24, 1965 [July 9, 19641, No. 26902/65. Heading F1P. A hydraulic ram comprises a piston 78 reciprocable in a cylinder in which is fixed a tube 108 extending parallel to the cylinder axis and passing through a bore in the piston. This tube conveys fluid from an inlet passage 104 to the other side of the piston, and at its ends its outer surface is relieved to allow leakage from one side of the piston to the other so that the force exerted by the piston is reduced at the end of its stroke. The cylinder is connected in series with an intensifier (22) Fig. 1 (not shown) and through a changeover valve (16) to a source of pressure (10). The leakage past the piston 78 also allows fluid flow to continue when the piston has reached the end of its stroke, thus enabling the intensifier to complete its stroke. The piston is connected to spring-loaded collets 136 which act to draw fasteners intn a tubular anvil 58. |
