PURPOSE:To produce a ball point piston economicaly with high accuracy, by holding a connecting rod, a steel ball and a big end repectively by means of electrodes to be used exclusively for each and joining these parts by resistance welding. CONSTITUTION:A connecting rod 9 is sandwiched with the 1st electrodes 12, 13 of a split type having grooves 12a, 13a of a semicircular shape of the same diameter as the diameter of the rod 9 on the split surfaces, and a steel ball 11 is pressed to one end face of the rod 9 by the 2nd electrode 14 having the spherical recess 14a of the same curvature as the curvature of the ball 11. A big end 8 is pressed to the other end face of the bar 9 by the 3rd electrode 15 having a notch 15a of a semicircular shape of the same diameter as the diameter of the end 8. Electric current is then passed between the 1st electrodes 12, 13 and the electrode 14 to weld the ball 11 to the rod 9 by resistance and electric curent is passed between the electrodes 12, 13 and the electrode 15 to weld the end 8 to the rod 9 by resistance, whereby the ball joint piston is produced. |
