PURPOSE:To prevent torsion, warp, and waving phenomena generating on the surface of a rail, by bending the rail by supporting it with the aids of a central supporting jack and fulcrum jacks at both sides, in bending a wide gauge rail into a shape having a proper radius of curvature. CONSTITUTION:In bending a wide gauge rail used for traveling wheels with rubber tires, a wide gauge rail 1 is supported in press-contact with holders between upper holding plates, two holding fixtures 14 of fulcrum jacks 13, and a holding fixture 17 of a central supporting jack 16. In this state, the side surface of the rail 1 is pushed with the aid of a laterally pushing fitment 21 by operating a laterally pushing cylinder 18. Then, only a part of the jack 16 moves while sliding laterally, and a part of each jack 13 is bent by the changing quantity of curvature while each jack 13 is rotated together with each fixture 14. Accordingly, the rail 1 is bent into a curved one having the smooth surface without generating torsion, warp, or waving phenomena on its upper surface. |
