<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the fire of a grouped cable from spreading by a method wherein, when the cable is on fire, the water in a water tank is evaporated by the fire, its steam pressure is applied on the piston of a cylinder, and then a cutter fitted at the rod end of the piston presses and cuts the cable, and shuts it. CONSTITUTION:A box-shaped body 2 is placed at a specified position on the line of a grouped cable 1 bounding several cables. A part of the cable 1 is longitudinally inserted through the box-shaped body 2, and a cylinder 3 is mounted on the top of the body. A cutter 4 is fitted at the rod end of a piston 3a of the cylinder, slid along guides 6 fixed in the box-shaped body and held in the box-shaped body 2 by holders 5 in the state of the piston being retracted. The other end of the cylinder is furthermore connected to a water tank 8 by a pipe 7. When the cable is on fire, the water in the tank 8 is evaporated and the piston 3a is extended by its steam pressure. After that, the cutter 4 presses the cable, and cuts the holders and the cable, and then shuts the space between the cut cables.</p> |
