PURPOSE:To simplify a steering angle sensor and its mounting mechanism and reduce the size of the sensor by engaging a pinion gear placed inside a housing surrounding a steering shaft, with a rack gear and mounting a steering angle sensor which detects the quantity of revolution of the shaft of the pinion, on the shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rack gear 140 is formed in a position between the ball screw means of a rear wheel steering shaft 30 and a centering spring, and engaged with a pinion 142. The pinion 142 is contained in a housing 40 and held inside it with the shaft 144 of the pinion and a steering angle sensor 120, like a potentiometer, detecting the quantity of revolution of the pinion shaft 144 is mounted on the pinion shaft 144. |
