PURPOSE:To improve a nonlinear optical characteristic and responsiveness by forming the org. nonlinear optical material of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:This compd. is expressed by the formula P-Q or P-Q-Q. In the formula, P denotes a monovalent polycyclic arom. group; X denotes a divalent pi electron conjugated system; Q denotes a monovalent electron-donating group or electron-withdrawing group. The org. nonlinear optical material is formed of this compd. The low molecular compd. having the nonlinear optical optical constant much larger than the nonlinear optical optical constant of the conventional org. nonlinear optical material is obtd. in this way.
