<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the variation of tape tension by providing a flexible endless belt for guiding a magnetic tape and controlling the belt so as to be usable at the working position in contact with the tape. CONSTITUTION: A recessed part 30 is provided on a cassette 29, and the flexible endless belt 8 at the initial position is arranged in this part, then the tension and position of the magnetic tape 7 are controlled by a controller 45. A position detecting means 38 for detecting the position of the belt 8, a tape tension detecting means 44 for detecting the tension of the tape 7 and a driving device for reels 5, 6 based on the position of the belt 8 and the tension of the tape 7, are controlled by the controller 45. Further, the driving device for the reels 5, 6 and the driving device for the tape 7 are controlled based on the information read by magnetic head means 11a, 11b so that the tape tension is maintained to a specified value to keep the belt 8 at a specified position, and the required part of the tape is positioned, then the read-out/write-in of the information are carried out. Thus, the tension of the magnetic tape is maintained and the variation is prevented.</p> |
