PURPOSE:To provide a highly durable electrostatic fiber by exposing a polymer having a lower melting point to the outer peripheral surface of a conjugated fiber wherein the polymers have a specific difference between the melting points thereof, disposing one or more depressions on the outer peripheral surface and subsequently contaminating the depressed portion of the produced modified cross-sectional conjugated fiber with a conductive powder in an embedded state. CONSTITUTION:A conjugated fiber comprises a polymer A1 such as polyethylene terephthalate as the core component thereof and a polymer B2 having a melting point 20 deg.C or more lower than that of the polymer A such as a copolyester containing isophthalic acid as the sheath component thereof and is produced by conjugate-spinning two components into a modified cross-sectional fiber having one or more depressions on the sheath portion. The obtained fiber is heated at a temperature which is lower than the melting point of the polymer A but is higher than that of the polymer B and subsequently contaminated with an conductive powder 3 selected from Ag, Ni, Cu, CuI, CuS, SnO2, ZnO and In2O3 at the depressed portion in an embedded or semi-embedded and fixed state to provide a highly durable electrostatic fiber without damaging the strength thereof. |
