PURPOSE:To attain overwriting of a magneto-optical disk and to shorten the access time of a device by adding a light source for overwriting. CONSTITUTION:An optical head is constituted of a recording/reproducing light source 1, an overwriting light source 2, a half mirror 3, a detecting beam splitter 4, a condenser lens 5, and a reflected light detecting optical system 6. Laser beams 8 radiated from the light source 1 are condensed similarly to a minimum magnetic domain recorded on the magneto-optical disk 9. On the other hand, laser beams 7 radiated from the light source 2 are condensed into a concentrically circular area whose diameter is about twice in an area including the condensed beam of the light source 1. Since the magnetizing direction of recording on the disk 9 can be selected by fixing a magnetic field applied from the external and modulating the light source 2, overwriting can be attained. |
