The method for the surveillance of warehouses and goods depots accessible to other persons than the users is characterized in that, when a user places an object in a predetermined depot or location (101-104), a presence signal (19) indicating the presence of said object in said location is generated, which signal will be maintained during the whole duration of said presence and, the user makes sure that a permanent watching device is activated by said presence signal by a users personnel means (16) and, when retrieving the object from said depot or location, the setting off, by the watching device, of an alarm and/or one or a plurality of safe keeping measures if the disappearance of said presence signal is not followed or preceded, within a predetermined time interval, by the deactivation of said watching device by means of said user personnel means.
