The present invention is in the field of hygiene. It relates to a fitting 1 for protecting a toilet seat rim, consisting of a peripheral part, or collar 4, intended to cover the rim, and a central part 5 connected to the peripheral part 4 and intended to cover partially the pan. The fitting is principally characterised in that a first gathered elastic strip 7 runs along, when taut, the outer edge 4' of the collar 4 over at least the major part of its perimeter, the length of the strip being slightly greater than the perimeter of the standard rims, and in that a second strip 8 runs along the inner edge 4'' of the collar 4 in such a way as to hold the collar 4 taut on the rim. <IMAGE>
