PURPOSE:To prevent an image memory from being generated on an image carrier and to obtain a satisfactory image constantly by providing a pretransfer uniform exposure means whereby the image carrier with a developer image formed on is uniformly exposed between a developing means and a transfer means. CONSTITUTION:The image carrier 1 having an amorphous silicon layer is exposed to light with >=650nm wave length by an exposure means 6. An inversion developing system is employed for the developing means 7 so that developer T is in the same polarity as that of electrostatic charge by an electrostatic charging means 5 and adheres to a part irradiated with light when exposed. The pretransfer uniform exposure means 8 whereby the image carrier 1 with the developer image formed on is uniformly exposed is provided between the developing means 7 and the transfer means 9. Since a part where to the developer T adheres is the part irradiated with light when exposed, this part, which is already exposed and therefore covered with the developer T, is not exposed when uniform exposure is next perform by the pretransfer uniform exposure means 8. As a result, the entire surface of a photosensitive body 1 is exposed uniformly, and the image memory can be prevented from being generated. |
