<p>PURPOSE:To easily and accurately recognize the presence of an error control function of an opposite side data transmitter by providing a transmission means sending an intermittent carrier prior to data transmission through the use of error control and a detection means detecting the presence of the intermission of the received carrier. CONSTITUTION:A control section 10 controls a transmission means (e.g., a carrier control section 50) prior to data transmission by using error control to send an intermittent carrier so as to recognize the existence of the error control function in the opposite data transmitter. Moreover, the control section 10 monitors the result of detection of a carrier detection section 40 in the reception of a carrier from the opposite data transmitter. If the result of detection indicates the presence of the carrier intermission, the provision of the error control function to the opposite data transmitter is recognized and if the result of detection depicts a continuous carrier without any interruption, no provision of error control function is recognized. Whether or not the opposite data transmitter has the error control function is recognized in this way based on the presence of the carrier intermission.</p> |
