The invention relates to a process for producing blocks from a raw mixture rendered porous, which is prepared from a binder, water, a granular aggregate and additives in pourable form, foam being added to the raw mixture or produced in the latter, and the raw mixture being formed into a strand and heated as a strand for strengthening, after which blanks are successively cut off from the strand, transported into an autoclave and autoclaved there. To produce reinforced blocks, it is provided that a reinforcement in the form of straight rods is introduced into the blanks whilst their composition is still in a pasty state, in the longitudinal direction of the strand.
