1,159,093. Pneumatic tyres. MICHELIN & CIE (Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin). 27 July, 1966 [28 July, 1965; 20 June, 1966], No. 33749/66. Heading B7C. In a pneumatic tyre having at least two carcass cord plies 7, 8 extending from bead to bead, the separation of the plies progressively increasing from the mid-height zone to a maximum in the tread region and one of which diverges from the tyre internal wall away from the beads and towards the tread, the separation is preferably effected by the application of heat (e.g. during vulcanization), the cords comprising some which contract during heating and some which do not or contract less. Preferably polyamide and/or polyester or polyvinyl alcohol cords (contracting) are used with rayon, steel or glass cords (non-contracting) or polyamide (more contracting) may be used with polyester (less contracting) cords. The cords may before heating all be disposed in a single ply, or in homogeneous or heterogeneous separate plies. They may lie in radial planes or in cross-laid plies. |
