In the justified effort to protect property, it seems propitious to provide a further vehicle anti-theft device in addition to the (frequently not consciously used, alas) steering wheel lock. As the steering wheel lock makes provision for the steering system to be fixedly blocked, which blockage can normally be overcome by means of brute force, this motor vehicle anti-theft device is made particularly convincing by the fact that it does not succumb to the application of force, as it can turn endlessly about the handbrake engagement button (1) without giving up its actual protective function. The existing plastic handbrake engagement button is unscrewed without difficulty and replaced by a solid, innovatively shaped handbrake engagement button (1). The actual motor vehicle anti-theft device (11) is then slid over the new handbrake engagement button (1) towards the handbrake, in order to engage, with its circumferential supporting rim (12), in the tubular shaft (8) of the handbrake. The locking mechanism which is then engaged pushes its two locking belts (15) into the annular groove (2) of the handbrake engagement button (1). Now both parts of the new handbrake engagement button (1) and the actual motor vehicle anti-theft device (11) are fixedly locked and connected to one another, although the motor vehicle anti-theft device (11) can still be rotated axially about the hand-brake engagement button (1). The outlay on material is extremely small, but the protective effect is amazingly large. <IMAGE>
