The invention relates to an apparatus for feeding workpieces, for use with robots having at least one optically controlled gripper for unloading the workpieces arranged on a place of deposit. The invention is distinguished in that the place of deposit is provided in the region of a receiving container which receives the workpieces as an unordered quantity, and in that the place of deposit and the receiving container are vertically movable relative to each other in such a manner that the place of deposit is located, in a first position, inside the interior space, occupied by the workpieces, of the receiving container and, in a second position, above the said interior space.
