The invention relates to a brake operating device for bicycles or the like, with a rapid slackening device for the brake shoes of the brake, to facilitate the changing of a wheel or the like. According to the invention, the control cable ends on the operating lever of the device and is slidable on a casing, one end of which is held in a front socket of a guide sleeve for the cable in a manner such that it can slide in the bearing body of the device.
