Track measuring device for measuring a lower structure gauge, having a measuring beam (1), which can be placed on the rail heads and is situated transverse to the axis of the track, and a displaceably mounted measuring bench (10), which is provided to the side of said measuring beam (1) and has a length measuring scale. Arranged at the free end of the measuring bench (10) is a gauge length (measuring rule) (40) provided at right angles to the axis of said bench. The measuring beam (1) and measuring bench (10) are essentially of the same length. The gauge length (40) is mounted in an easily detachable fashion on the free end of the measuring bench (10) by means of a screw and/or clamping plug (stopper) (21). At least the measuring beam (1) or the measuring bench (10) is constructed as a box-like hollow profile or as an I-profile. The gauge length (40) or its parts (22, 27) can be plugged when not in use into the open end of the hollow profile or can be mounted inside the enveloping profile of the I-profile and held in this position in a self-closed or force-closed fashion. <IMAGE>
