A device for automatically screwing spark plugs into spark-plug bores of internal combustion engines is presented. An industrial robot takes hold of the spark plug and puts it into a driver socket. The latter is suspended in an articulated manner and is held approximately in the axial direction of the spark-plug bore by means of a spring arrangement. The spark-plug bore is designed as a guide bore for the driver socket so that the spark plug is fed in a precisely fitting manner to the thread of the locating bore by a simple feed motion. A further spring arrangement is provided in order to be able to screw in the spark plug in a further fitting position running at an angle to the first fitting position.
