Apparatus for mounting and fixing plunger pump units into a borehole consists of a pipe section (2) mounted on the pressure pipe of the machine unit (1), a resilient seal (7) on the outside of the pipe section (2), a seal-supporting shoulder (6) rigidly fixed to the pipe section (2), a spring-supporting ring (16) mounted at the side of the pipe section (2) opposite the machine unit, lugs (11) for connecting a transporting rope (10), lugs (14) for connection to a fixing rope (12), a ring (9) for clamping and deforming the seal (7), and a spring (13) for displacing the clamping ring (9). Within the resilient seal (7) there is a reinforcing core (8). Water discharge bore (s) (15) is or are formed on the seal-supporting shoulder (6). The apparatus is installed by lowering on rope 10 to compress spring 13. At the desired position the weight is taken by rope 12 and rope 10 is slackened to allow spring 13 to expand such as shown in the right of the drawing. <IMAGE>
