<p>A device for making wire hoods for securing corks, in particular of sparkling wine bottles, from prefabricated U-shaped wires (24), said hoods consisting of four lengths of wire shaped to form a circle from which four small twisted legs project horizontally. A chain (2, 2'), to which shaping tools are secured, passes around four paired and mutually perpendicular chain wheels (1, 1'). The shaping tools (3) have cutting edges (18), projections (8) and an internal cone (12). The shaping tools (3) can be driven in stages into three dies (4, 5, 6). The first die (4) has blades (23), the second die (5) has recesses (7), which co-operate with the projections (8) of the shaping tool (3) to form end hooks (9) in the legs (28), and the third die (6) has a pressure surface which presses the central portion (26) of the U-shaped wire (24) into the cone (12), thereby forming the wire hood (25). An ejector (15) is arranged in a subsequent stage.</p> |
