PURPOSE:To keep superior image density and to obtain sufficient color developing sensitivity and preserving power, by employing a phenol derivative represented by a specified general formula as a color developer and, having a specific compound contained in said color developer. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive layer containing a colorless or dim leuco dye and a color developer which makes the leuco dye develop color when heat is applied is provided on a support body. A compound represented by a general formula (1) is employed for the color developer which contains at least one of the compounds, 1,1,3-tri(3-t-butyl-4-hydroxy-6- methylphenyl)butane, 1,1,3-tri(3-cyclohexyl-4-hydroxy-6- methylphenyl)butane and 1,2-bis[3,3-bis(3- tubyl-4-hyroxyphenyl)butylyloxy]ethylene. The leuco dye and color developing agent are respectively dispersed into particles and then mixed together, and may be added with a binder or a sensitizer upon necessity, thereby to obtain a paint for the heat-sensitive layer. The paint is then applied onto the support body such as a sheet of paper, a sheet of plastic, a resin-coated paper, etc., whereby the heat-sensitive recording material of this invention is obtained. In the formula, Z denotes a sulfur atom, and -SO2-, R<1> denote a lower alkyl radical which may be substituted or radical-CH2 R<2> and R<2> denotes a lower alkyl radical, phenyl radical, benzyl radical R<3> is a hydrogen atom, a lower-class alkyl radical which may be substituted, halogen atom, nitrile radical, nitro radical or alkoxy radical. |
