In a process for the pressure gasification of coal for operating a power station, in which the major part of the product gas is burnt in at least one gas turbine combustion chamber (35) and converted via an exhaust gas turbine (38) into electrical and/or mechanical energy, the coal (2) to be gasified is separated without prior or subsequent grinding into a fine coal fraction (11) and a granular coal fraction (7), the two coal fractions (7, 11) being introduced at separate points into a fluidised-bed reactor (8). Additionally, the fluidised bed is charged with a desulphurising agent (9) such as, for example, CaO, MgO, CaCO3 or the like, the gasifying agent used being a steam/air mixture, pure air or oxygen-enriched air, if appropriate together with recirculated product gas, and the molten slag (15) being tapped, preferably continuously. This process avoids the cost of grinding the coal, air or slightly oxygen-enriched air can be sufficient, and the pollutant loading of the resulting product gas is substantially reduced by reaction of the H2S in the gas with the desulphurising agents. <IMAGE> |
