The method according to the invention for the decorative machining of glass, ceramics and products thereof is carried out by means of periodic pulsed transverse discharge under atmospheric pressure (RP TEA) of a CO2 laser at a pulse energy from 1 to 5 J, a power density from 1 x 10<6> to 6 x 10<7> W/cm<2>, a pulse duration from 50 to 100 ns, a pulse repetition frequency from 1 to 500 Hz and an average power from 1 to 1,000 W with a metal mask carrying a lithographically reproducible image by means of a supporting grid structure. The movement of the product to be decorated and the emission frequency of the laser are combined in such a way that 5 to 80% of the spots coincide, depending on the required contrast of the image. …The device for laser decoration consists of a base (1) with a console (2) which is mounted thereon and on which parallel elements (3) and a screw (4) are fixed. A nut (8) movable on the screw (4) is fixed by means of a second console (9) to a fork (10), on which a carriage (15) with longitudinal channels (16) is fastened by means of a handle (13) and a fixing device (14).
