PURPOSE:To enable the reproduction with good sensitivity from a medium formed with narrower tracks by disposing a nonmagnetic conductor bridged and installed with a magneto-resistance effect element between either of the middle of 3 leader terminals and either of both ends to the spacing between two shielding magnetic materials. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-resistance effect element 35 having the 3 leader terminals 32-34 is sandwiched between a magnetic substrate 11 and the shielding magnetic material layer 18 by nonmagnetic insulating layers 12, 17 to constitute the head. The element 3 bridges the middle among the common leading out parts consisting of the nonmagnetic conductor films of the three terminals and either of both ends. Taking out of the intermediate terminal 33 is, therefore, easy even if the core width W for formation of the magnetic recording medium to the narrower tracks is decreased; in addition, the thermal noises by heat generation of the element 35 are effectively removed at the time of reproduction by setting this terminal at a reference potential and differentially detecting the potentials outputted to the terminals 32, 34 of both ends. The reproduction characteristic of the good sensitivity is thus obtd. |
