PURPOSE:To arbitrarily limit the number of copying times by providing a protection managing area for storing specific information indicating the protecting condition of each file stored in a file storing area to a storing medium. CONSTITUTION:The protection managing area 1a and file storing area 1b are provided in the storing medium 1 and specific information indicating the protecting condition of each file stored in the area 1b is stored in the area 1a after addresses are added to the information. Moreover, the area 1a can be accessed by a specific program only, and reading out and writing in the area 1 are usually inhibited. At the time of, for example, copying an arbitrary file of a storing medium 1A to another storing medium 1B by a copying program stored in a main storage device 3, the corresponding protect byte of the area 1a of the medium 1A is read out when the file to be copied is designated and processes, such as copy inhibition, number limited copying, limitless copying, etc., are performed in corresponding to the protecting conditions. Thus the number of copying times can be limited arbitrarily. |
