PURPOSE:To increase fluidity and reduce slump loss of a concrete mixed with a water-soluble polymeric material by adjusting the pH of the mixture with an alkali. CONSTITUTION:The fluidity of concrete is improved by adding an oxide, hydroxide or salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal to concrete mixed with a water-soluble polymeric material (e.g., cellulose derivative, acrylic compound or polyethylene oxide compound), thereby adjusting the pH of the concrete to >=12.5, preferably >=12.8. |
