<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic tape from bending at the time of slack of the magnetic tape by putting the magnetic tape in a vacuum column to wind up it after winding the magnetic tape fed out from a cartridge around a machine reel of a magnetic tape device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 10 in a cartridge 20 is fed out and is wound around a machine reel 33 of the magnetic tape device, and the winding-up operation of the wound magnetic tape is stopped, and the magnetic tape 10 is put in vacuum columns 45 and 46 of the magnetic tape device. The magnetic tape 10 is wound up around the machine reel 33 again in this state, and feeding- out of the magnetic tape is stopped after a certain extent of winding-up and the magnetic tape is put in vacuum columns 45 and 46. Then, the front end of the tape (BOT) indicating the first position of information write on the magnetic tape is searched. Thus, a high tension is prevented from being applied to the magnetic tape, and bending of the magnetic tape is prevented when the magnetic tape is loosely wound.</p> |
